Comkey Therapy specializing in Autism Spectrum Disorder
Raising a child or caring for an adult with autism is an enormous and often overwhelming task, but ComKey Therapy can help. ComKey Therapy can help individuals with autism perform better in the home and their community. ComKey Therapy helps individuals with autism to comprehend the verbal and nonverbal communication that other people use. Without meaningful gestures or other nonverbal skills to enhance their oral language skills, many individuals with ASD become frustrated in their attempts to make their feelings, thoughts, and needs known. They may act out on their frustrations through vocal outbursts or other inappropriate behaviors. ComKey Therapy can help them to recognize cues like body language and facial expressions. ComKey Therapy can also help a person with autism to understand how to initiate communication without prompting from others. ComKey Therapy evaluates the current developmental levels of an individual with autism, aiming to improve their ability to self-regulate emotions and participate in social interactions. Through interventions, ComKey Therapy can help people with autism build on their areas of strength and overcome their limitations.
ComKey Therapy’s overall goal is to help the children and adults with autism improve their quality of life through introduction, maintenance, and improvement of functional daily skills so that individuals with autism can be as independent as possible, making it possible for individuals with autism to improve their ability to form relationships and function in day-to-day life.
